Smart Gilas 2 vs Qatar Tune-up Game
Smart Gilas beats Qatar, 78-71

Ynares Sports Arena

After a long time, I was able to shoot a Smart Gilas game again. This was my first time to shoot the Smart Gilas 2.0, this was a tune-up game vs Qatar before the team left for Tokyo, Japan to compete in the FIBA Asia Cup. I was a little bit rusty since I have not been shooting sports for a while.

Special thanks to Team Manager Butch Antonio.

Go Smart Gilas! Laban Pilipinas!

Smart Gilas vs Qatar Exhibition Game
Smart Gilas beats Qatar, 69-52
September 8, 2011
Arena, San Juan

This is the first game of Smart Gilas Pilipinas with the lineup that will compete in the 2011 FIBA Asia Championship. This exhibition game was a test on how the new reinforcements fit in Coach Rakjo Toromans system.

Kelly Williams
Hang-time by Kelly Williams. Williams contributed 5 points but he is needed more in the rebounding and defense department specially with the size of our other Asian counterparts.

Jimmy Alapag
Jimmy Alapag led Smart Gilas in scoring with 11 points on 3/5 from three-point range. Alapag had more playing time since JV Casio sat out of this game, he maybe just the 3rd point guard in the rotation but the team badly needs outside shooters since the resignation of Dondon Hontiveros.

Ranidel de Ocampo
Even with a mask, Ranidel de Ocampo scored 9 points on a combination of inside and outside shooting.

Japeth Aguilar
A Smart Gilas game is not complete without a slam dunk from Japeth Aguilar

Smart Gilas vs Meralco Bolts

Smart Gilas Pilipinas vs Meralco Bolts Exhibition Game
Meralco Gym, Meralco Compound, Ortigas

I shoot for the B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados and Meralco Bolts in the Philippine Basketball Association and one of the first practice games of the new PBA team, the Meralco Bolts won against Smart Gilas held last September 24, 2010, a week before the start of the PBA All-Filipino Conference.

Things got intense in the 2nd half when Marcus Douthit and Marlou Aquino had an altercation. Meralco defeated Smart Gilas, 71-67.

My first time to shoot Smart Gilas was in October 5, 2009 during their Exhibition Match against  Powerade Team Pilipinas at the Araneta Coliseum. First time to see first hand the plays of Rajko Toroman in action which resulted in a big win for Smart Gilas against the previous National Basketball Team composed of PBA players.
